Batman: Absolution

Here are some pics from Batman: Absolution. The artist is Brian Ashmore. Absolution means gaining forgiveness for a past sin that you have committed. In this story, there is a criminal who tries to get absolution for her crime and batman has to come to terms with the facts that a person who used to be evil has turned her life around and changed herself. can a person truly become good from evil?

in batman's early years, he did not always fight super villains all of the time. in this particular case, we can see batman and another woman in the above picture. The woman in the right is actually an arsonist. here batman is seen to be running through fire and the woman looks like she is running away from a house. if you look closely, you can see that batman is actually chasing her.

so what is the significance of this scene after what i just described as the premise of this comic story? well, the woman actually went far away to get away from the law and actually get salvation.

in this picture we can see the unforgiving night streets of gotham city. a homeles person has something, probably alcohol, on his hands. smoke is coming out from under the streets. a car can be seen and also a man that is standing next to the car. the horizon looks completely dark over here. this can mean either the fire has spread a lot or the sun is just setting.

here again we can see that a number of people are standing outside of the burning building. it is actually a big house surrounding a vacant space. this might indicate that the owners of the house were rich.

here we can see that batman is confronting the woman that was actually the cause of the fire. batman has let go of his fears and jump straight into the burning building to see if some body was in need of dire help. but instead, he has found out the perpetrator of the crime.

here again we can see that the streets of india and a seemingly expensive car is driving along the cows and rickshaws and poor people. since it is a batman comic, it is safe to assume that bruce wayne is actually inside that exact car. why else would we be seeing this odd panel inside a batman comic.

The arsonist actually got away from batman at the day of the crime. batman had tracked her down after a long time and confronted her for the crimes she committed in the past. there he saw that the woman was trying to get good and she had let go of her bad ways of life.

Spoiler alert: there was another fire in the place she was living and she died while trying to save others from the fire.
